7 Days in Greece: athens, Mykonos & Santorini
Greece is one of those places people dream about for years, and when you finally go, it somehow still exceeds expectations.
I always tell my clients the same thing. If you are going to do Greece, give it at least a full week and do it the right way. Start in Athens, spend time in Mykonos and Santorini, then come back to Athens to close it out. That flow just works. It feels natural, balanced, and allows you to experience each destination without rushing through it.
This is exactly how I design it for my couples, and once you experience it this way, you understand why.
Welcome to Athens!
There is something about Greece that is hard to explain until you are there. Yes, it is beautiful, but it is more than that. It is the way the light hits the white buildings in the late afternoon. The way a simple dinner turns into a two-hour experience. The way Santorini at sunset makes everything else feel quiet for a moment.
It is one of those destinations that stays with you long after you leave.

Athens
A lot of travelers treat Athens as a quick stop before heading to the islands, and I always tell my clients not to skip it. Even one intentional night here sets the tone for the entire trip in the best way.
Athens is layered. It is historic, vibrant, and a little chaotic in a way that somehow works. The moment you see the Acropolis rising above the city, something shifts. You realize you are somewhere special.
Check into a hotel near Syntagma Square so the city is at your doorstep from the moment you arrive. Wander the marble lanes of Monastiraki, find a café in the shadow of a Byzantine church, order a carafe of chilled white wine and whatever the waiter recommends to eat alongside it. They are always right.
Tonight, stop for dinner in the Psiri neighborhood. Warm bread and olive oil and the kind of unhurried meal that reminds you what eating is actually for. Let the evening stretch as long as it wants to because tomorrow… the islands begin.
Mykonos
I know Mykonos gets a reputation, and not all of it is wrong. But when it is done right, with the right hotel and the right guidance, it becomes one of the most beautiful and memorable parts of the trip.
This is where working with someone who knows where to send you makes all the difference. What I love most for Mykonos clients? Let’s start with a private boat charter out to the coves and beaches that day-trippers never reach, an ATV ride through the wilder interior of the island with your own local guide, or simply a long lazy afternoon at one of the beautiful beaches followed by a sunset drink from Little Venice. Your choice, but I can say, you wont go wrong with any of them.
I make sure every client knows exactly where to dine. Skip the tourist traps and take a walk two streets back from the beachfront restaurants. Here you can enjoy a quieter atmosphere and better food; the kind of meal you'll still be talking about long after you're home. After dinner, if the famous Mykonos nightlife calls to you, answer it. But if you'd rather watch the sky change colors over the sea with a cold Negroni in your hand, that is equally perfect. Both versions of this evening are exactly right.

Santorini
Santorini is one of those places that people think they understand until they actually arrive. You can see all the photos in the world, and it still feels different in person.
Two nights here isn’t enough to take it all in, but it does allow you to slow down, and really enjoy it without feeling rushed. I usually arrange cave suites with private plunge pools and direct caldera views wherever possible, because waking up to that panorama on your first morning in Santorini is a must.
Santorini has more depth than people expect. A morning caldera boat tour to the active volcano and the hot springs is genuinely unlike anything else, swimming in warm sulphureous water surrounded by that extraordinary landscape…chef’s kiss. In the evening, I usually recommend savoring the days catch of fresh sea bream. If you have never had fresh caught sea bream from the Aegean waters, you are missing out.

Coming back to Athens at the end is something my clients always appreciate more than they expect. After the islands, after all the views and movement, it gives you a moment to settle back in before heading home. It feels like a full circle moment, and it closes the trip in a really intentional way.
Greece is one of those places people return to again and again, and once you experience it this way, you will understand why. If this is a trip you have been thinking about, I would love to help you bring it to life in a way that feels seamless from start to finish.
